When forty-five year-old banker, James O'Brien, loses the only job he has ever had, he discovers a number of harsh facts: his age and educational limitations reduce his value in a tough job market where many companies are downsizing, he has lost the esteem of his wife, unemployment compensation is an inadequate and finite resource, and the only thing genuinely important to him is his children.
